Here's a thought: if you were a major player in the Internet business, would you hire a hacker? That seems to be the latest trend among Internet-centric companies these days.

George Hotz, a hacker who was sued by Sony for hacking the PlayStation 3 video game console, has been hired by Facebook. Known as "Geohot" in his hacking community, Hotz made headlines when he posted instructions on how to hack into a PlayStation 3 on his blog. Sony sued Hotz and demanded that the instructions be taken down from Hotz's blog. Hotz is now rumored to be working on Facebook's new iPad app.

Hotz is just the most recent example of former hackers who now work for major corporations. They haven't exactly had the best reputation, but there's no denying that these are smart and talented, if not misguided, guys. And I for one think it's great to see these guys using their talents for good.

Let's just hope their new employers don't make them angry. If they can hack into other companies' properties, what's to stop them from hacking into their own company?
