Who is ready for winter?! Okay, there are probably very few people who are ready for winter around here. It's still hot outside and most of us are just waiting for False Fall in Texas until we get to real Fall.

But for some, looking ahead is fun and some may wonder if this winter season will be mild and without snow or cold and with snow. The past couple of winters in Lubbock have been fairly mild with very little snow.

That could change this winter. At least according to the Farmers' Almanac who released their 2025-2026 Winter Outlook recently. And if they are correct, Texans will want to make sure they know where their winter coats are.

Texas Could See a Cold, Wet Winter

According to the Farmers' Almanac, Texas, along with New Mexico, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Arkansas are all predicted to see a cold, wet winter.

They predict that Texas and other states will see a "wetter-than-average winter" with cold snaps throughout the winter.

Does That Mean Snow Storms in Texas This Winter?

Not exactly. While the Farmers' Almanac predicts a cold, wet winter that doesn't mean it's always going to be snow. In fact they wrote that snow "will be limited, the region may face several cold rain events and occasional freezing precipitation, particularly in northern areas".

The coldest weather of course will be in the northern United States and into New England. But it appears as though most of the United States will see some form of moisture this winter.
