There are a few reports out this morning that say that the social networking giant, Facebook, lost millions of users last month here in the United States and around the world. According to myfoxny.com:

The United States lost nearly six million users in May, Inside Facebook said, falling from 155.2 million at the start of May to 149.4 million at the end of it.

Canadian users fell 1.52 million to 16.6 million during the month and Britain, Norway and Russia all posted losses of more than 100,000, Inside Facebook said.

Facebook is still close to having 700 million users, so losing a few million won't really hurt too bad. Still, the question is why did Facebook lose people?

I think part of the reason Facebook is losing users is because some people want their privacy back. I believe that some got wrapped up in the world of Facebook and having to constantly be updating their status got to be too much. Sometimes people like to reclaim their independence and getting rid of Facebook might be a good first step in doing that.

Some people are tired of losing their privacy and always having to update pictures and places that they are at. Facebook isn't going anywhere anytime soon, but I think we will continue to see waves of people who decided to unfriend Facebook.
