Extremely Cold Temperatures Are Heading For Lubbock

It's been a mild winter so far for Lubbock and most of Texas, but that's all going to change soon. A cold front is heading for Texas and for the Lubbock area, that means extremely cold temperatures overnight and in the mornings.
The good news is that mild temperatures will continue most of this week with highs on Wednesday and Thursday in the low 60's, though the wind is expected to be pretty high on both of those days so prepare for some blowing dust.
Temperatures on Friday begin to dip. As of Monday, January 8th, the high on Friday is forecasted to be anywhere from 39 degrees to the mid-40's. And that's before another strong cold front comes through.
Low temperatures this weekend and into early next week are expected to be in the teens, but some areas could see low temperatures in the single digits to below zero. That means extremely cold temperatures overnight and bitterly cold temperatures in the mornings.
As with many winter weather systems, it's hard to pinpoint exactly when the coldest air will hit and where it could snow. We should know more later in the week. Just know, it's going to get cold this weekend.
