Some local West Texas residents are getting ready to celebrate a magical night but are currently needing more help. Night to Shine is an event sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation where people 14 and over with special needs can bring out their best outfits for a special night. Prom!
This special prom event is held around the world in more than 800 churches with 215,000 volunteers making this event possible. Currently Night to Shine is still in need of 120 volunteers to help out in one of four different volunteer positions. Prom guests will have a buddy that will escort them throughout the night and through all the different activities that will be provided for free at Night to Shine.
The activities vary from shoe shines for gentlemen, makeup and hair refresh stations for ladies, corsages, a photo booth, dancing, and even karaoke. Most, if not all, buddy's stay in touch after the prom like many others that volunteer their time. This event with an expected 350 guests is made possible with help from ASCO, Bahama Bucks, and Betenbough Homes.
Night to Shine will be at Calvary Baptist Church located at 5301 82nd Street on Friday, February 9, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., doors will open at 5:30 p.m.. Registration for this event is closed but anyone interested in becoming any of four volunteer types can get more information online at nighttoshinelbk.org under the volunteer 2024 tab.
