Crisis Averted: Ella Apartments In Lubbock, Texas Clarify Utility Shut-off Misunderstanding
An apartment complex in Lubbock, Texas has been embroiled by a media uproar that began when tenants received an unexpected utility disconnect notice.
Social media was ablaze yesterday with fiery allegations that The Ella Apartment complex would have its electricity shut off on Friday, January 5. The uproar comes from a disconnect notice sent out to tenants over the holiday weekend. The notice sparked a cascade of panic amongst the residents, most of whom had already weathered several housing scandals at the complex.
Phone Call to Management Yields Answers
We reached out to The Ella Apartment for more insight to the situation and were quickly connected with the Regional Manager.
According to the regional manager, the disconnect notices that tenants received were actually due to the third-party service that Millennia Housing uses to make utility payments through.
She went on to explain that the property management workers had been alarmed by these notices as well--because they had already made the payment that the disconnect notice was for.
Holiday Hours Caused Errors in Billing
The regional manager added that the disconnect notices in question were sent out on December 26th and the offices were closed due to the holiday weekend.
She went on to affirm that the the payment issue was resolved the next day. It was also stated that the third party company confirmed that the disconnect notice could be disregarded.
According to their website, The Ella Apartments are an income based affordable housing opportunity, thoughtfully designed for comfort and convenience.
