Eddie McBride Talks Upcoming Chamber of Commerce Events
Tuesday on KFYO Mornings with Dave King and Matt Martin, the President of the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce Eddie McBride joined Dave and Matt to talk about the Chamber and the upcoming events that they will be having.
McBride started the discussion by talking about the different scooter companies in Lubbock right now, being the Bird and Lime Scooters. Eddie explained that neither of the companies came to the chamber to talk about how they could help, and only Lime went through the proper channels with the city and Texas Tech to get their license.
Eddie then talked about several upcoming events in association with the Chamber. Today at noon there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony for a new dentistry: Family Smiles of Lubbock. Then, later tonight, there will be a banquet for the 2018 twenty over forty award ceremony. The keynote speaker will be Bryce Foster from First United Bank, and KFYO's own Rob Snyder will be one of the award winners. The event takes place at the Elegante Hotel and Suites.
The Saturday after Thanksgiving is Small Business Saturday. "Our role in this is to do what we can to make people understand how important small business is to our community and communities across America," Eddie explained. Along with this, the Chamber will have a news conference next monday to recognize small business in Lubbock. After that, on November 29th, the Chamber will have their annual awards meeting with Robert Duncan as the guest speaker. The Chamber previously had an appreciation event for Robert Duncan, and Eddie hopes that they can work together in the future to support Tech's fight for a vet school and dental school.
