Eddie McBride Talks Texas Tech Vet School and Business Expo
Tuesday on KFYO Mornings with Dave King and Matt Martin, the President and CEO of the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce Eddie McBride joined Dave and Matt to talk about the Chamber's support of the planned Texas Tech veterinary school, the Business Expo, Business After Hours, and more.
McBride started the conversation by talking about his planned trip to Amarillo today to meet with Amarillo Matters, a political action committee that represents Amarillo's interest in the planned Texas Tech Veterinary School. The Lubbock Chamber plans to give some money to Amarillo Matters to help support their push for the school. Eddie also talked about the importance of the vet school itself, saying, "It's bigger than just Texas tech. It's bigger than just Amarillo, and Lubbock, and West Texas. I think it's going to be good for all of rural Texas." He went on to say, "The program that Tech has developed, I really do honestly think, is a no-brainer, and I think it's one of the biggest projects that Texas Tech has had in quite some time." McBride believes that there are not enough people studying to be vets for larger animals such as cattle, and this school will be a great place to get new students for this.
"When Bob Duncan got us involved a couple of years ago, we knew it was going to be important for whatever we can do for the business community to help, and now, when chancelor Ted Mitchell asked, I think it's important for us to help as well."
Eddie also talked about 2 upcoming events involved with the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce, including the Lubbock Business Expo on Thursday, January 24th at the Civic Center from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., as well as the Business After Hours event on January 10th at Prosperity Bank at Ave Q. McBride said that both of these events are great places to meet with businesses and business owners, and network.
