Tuesday on KFYO Mornings with Dave King and Matt Martin, The President and CEO of the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce Eddie McBride joined Dave and Matt to talk about how quickly the Texas Tech auditorium and coliseum were torn down, some problems with the future Expo center, Texas Tech baseball, chamber events, and more.

On the topic of the coliseum and auditorium being torn down, and the expo center that would replace it, Martin said that he does not think it will draw people to Lubbock the way people think it will, due to the pricing and lack of events. McBride disagreed, saying, "It's not just for the ABC Rodeo, although it's going to be a perfect home for the ABC Rodeo. It's just one of many different events and or shows, trade shows included, that can be done there." McBride went on to say that there are several equine events that happen in the panhandle, but currently do not have a place to go in Lubbock, and that the expo center will be built for those kinds of events. Eddie said,

I think it's going to be a great opportunity for the expo center to actually attract a lot of new out-of-towners to Lubbock and that's why it's going to pay back the hotel-motel tax that's going to be used to build it.

Eddie also talked about upcoming events at the Chamber of Commerce including a new member orientation, a Business After Hours on June 27th, the golf tournament on July 22nd, the opening for Leadership Lubbock applications, and more.
