Tuesday on KFYO Mornings with Dave King and Matt Martin the President of the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce Eddie McBride joined Dave and Matt to talk about healthcare, upcoming events hosted by the Chamber, tax increases, and people coming to Lubbock.

Eddie started the conversation by talking about the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce's health insurance plan. "Since 2006 we've had an affordable and discounted health care plan that has been directed to small businesses to put them in a pool that gives them large pool benefits," McBride explained, going on to say, "it's been a very successful plan." Eddie explained that the plan has changed a bit over the years, but that it was able to 'survive' Obamacare. You have to be a member of the chamber to be part of the plan.

McBride also talked about upcoming events hosted by the Chamber. Coming up on Thursday, July 12th is Business After Hours at Abuelos Restaurant hosted by Truno Retail Technology Solutions, and then another Business After Hours on July 26th at the Hillcrest Country Club hosted by Unite Private Networks. These events are a good opportunity to meet other chamber members and see how they network relationships. July 23rd is the Chamber's golf tournament at the Rawls course. On August 14th is the legislative appreciation luncheon for Congressman Jodey Arrington. And finally, on August 21st is the Wreck 'Em Tech athletics breakfast with Coaches Kingsbury, Stone, Kitley, and Greystone.

Finally Eddie addressed the idea that not a lot of people come to the city of Lubbock, to which he responded, "we had 6 million people come to Lubbock last year, so folks who think we're not a destination location, they're just flat wrong. It's not people who necessarily come here to vacation in the typical sense. We have people come to Tech, we have we have people who are coming to the hospitals, we have people to visit families."
