Current Texas Tech President Duane Nellis has been shopping around for new jobs, and was cut from consideration at the University of Wyoming in Laramie this week.

Nellis was named one of three finalists, but did not make the absolute cut.

As for his future with Texas Tech, that remains uncertain. Chancellor Robert Duncan said the two continue discussions on the university’s presidency:

"Dr. Nellis and I continue to be in conversation about his future plans. Ensuring the momentum and excellence of Texas Tech University remains the top priority for both of us. We are committed to doing what is best for Texas Tech University and for all those who support the institution."

Nellis has served as Tech’s president since June 2013.
