
CBP Officers Seize Over $4 Million in Cocaine At Texas-Mexico Border
U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers made a huge bust back on October 1 at the Laredo, Texas Port of Entry. The bust? A huge amount of cocaine heading into Texas and the United States.
Over 300 Pounds of Cocaine Seized at the Border
According to FOX4News, on October 1 a CBP officer had a semi that was hauling trailer parts pull over for a secondary inspection. During the inspection with a canine, CBP officers reportedly found 144 packages of cocaine. That comes out to 335.10 pounds of cocaine worth about $4,474,272.
Drug Threat to Texas and the United States
According to FOX4News, the Port Director said the October 1 bust is just another example of the threats we face.
"Our frontline CBP officers remain dedicated to CBP’s border security mission and that dedication and application of technology and inspection experience led to this significant cocaine seizure," said Port Director Alberto Flores, Laredo Port of Entry. "Seizures like these reflect the reality of the drug threat we face on a daily basis and our resolve to maintain a robust enforcement posture to interdict this poison and prevent it from reaching U.S. streets."
The cocaine was hidden within a tractor trailer.
