A Red Flag Warning is in effect for the South Plains, Panhandle, and into the Big Country through 8 p.m. tonight, and critical fire weather conditions will continue through the coming weekend.

High winds paired with low relative humidity create extreme fire danger. The relative humidity Friday afternoon is expected to remain around 10 percent this afternoon, and is not expected to increase much during the evening hours.

During these times, any outdoor activities which could cause sparks are discouraged. Lubbock County is under a burn ban, and violations of the burn ban carry a fine of up to $500.
