Lt. Governor Dan Patrick has spoken out against Michael Quinn Sullivan of Empower Texans, a person who up until Tuesday was considered an ally of Patrick.

The social media battle of tweets broke out before 11 a.m. on Tuesday when Sullivan was tweeting criticism of both Beto O'Rourke and Lt. Governor Dan Patrick. The criticism centered around O'Rourke's desire to confisicate guns and Patrick's desire for expanded background checks which has seen push-back from conservative activists, politicians, and the NRA.

Patrick responded to Sullivan's criticism, but then told Sullivan to "release the tape. You are destroying our party".

Patrick of course was referencing the meeting that Sullivan secretly recorded between himself, House Speaker Dennis Bonnen, and Rep. Dustin Burrows.

The exchange between the two quickly caught the attention of others in Texas media and politics.

Rep. Jonathan Stickland, a close ally of Michael Quinn Sullivan and Empower Texans who is not seeking re-election, blasted Patrick's response.

Sullivan also responded to Patrick with a number of tweets including the one below.

At the time of this being published, Lt. Governor Dan Patrick had not tweeted any other responses.

Scott Braddock, Editor of Quorum Report and frequent guest on both The Chad Hasty Show and KFYO Mornings, shared his thoughts on the exchange on Twitter.
