Crocs Are Back, And They Really Are Fantastic
According to just about every website out there, Crocs shoes are making a comeback because people are now loving comfort more than anything. The comeback began during the pandemic and hasn't slowed down.
I'm not one who normally jumps on the trendy fashion blogs to find out what to wear, so I really had no idea how popular Crocs were again until after I bought a pair and tried to convince my wife that I wasn't crazy.
Last weekend we were heading to Lake Brownwood to fish and just relax for Memorial Day weekend. That's when I decided I needed a simple, comfortable shoe just to wear while fishing and walking around the house. I decided to take the plunge on Crocs despite the laughter from my wife.
When they arrived, I have to admit, they are ugly. As ugly as a shoe has ever been. But, and here is the important part, they are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. I wore them all day Saturday and Sunday while fishing and messing around at the lake and my feet felt great all day long.
Then I started noticing more stories about Crocs and apparently, I've joined the fashion trend in America. Now that fashion trend is basically, "eh who cares what they look like, I'm comfortable", but I'm okay with that. Still, I only wear them at home. According to the Washington Post, people are wearing Crocs everywhere these days.
Now Crocs are turning up at weddings, in boardrooms, on the runway, even the Academy Awards, where Questlove sported a gold pair in April. “I became a believer in quarantine last year,” the 50-year-old Roots drummer and “Tonight Show” bandleader said in an Instagram post, saying he’s “tired of suffering while stunting."
“Comfort first at this stage in my life.”
Crocs are taking over in America, and I'm all in. In fact, I can't wait to wear them all weekend long.
