The COVID-19 pandemic had long-reaching effects on small businesses, self-employed professionals, and nonprofits — many of which they are still feeling today in the Lubbock area and beyond.

Fortunately, Lubbock County is responsible for dispersing $60.1 million in federal pandemic relief funds, and they are accepting applications for relief from small businesses and nonprofits through May 15, 2022. It's all part of the American Rescue Plan Act that President Joe Biden signed in March 2021.

To qualify, the nonprofit or business must be located in Lubbock County and must not have more than 100 employees. Self-employed persons can apply, too!

The goal is to replace all or part of the money lost due to the pandemic through a tax-free grant, so you'll want to gather documents demonstrating a loss in revenue or increased expenses, a copy of your business license, and a completed W9. You'll also need your EIN and DUNS numbers.

After officials receive your application, they may request additional documentation or verification.

County leaders' goal is to start issuing awards in June 2022, so don't wait! The only way to learn how much money you may qualify for is to apply. Start your application today at lubbockarpa.com.
