As area kids get ready to go back to school, Covenant Health System is offering some tips to keep them healthy during class.

Covenant recommends that students get a physical, especially before playing sports during the school year and ensure that vaccinations are up to date.

For parents whose child has a chronic health condition, they suggest creating an action plan for the school to address the child’s needs, which includes triggers, medications, and instructions in case of an emergency.

The health system also recommends implementing a sleep schedule for children, which will allow them to be more alert as they have to adjust back to school hours.

Also, to keep your student and others itch free, check students for head lice and other bugs.
