United States Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) joined The Chad Hasty Show Wednesday (October 15th) to discuss the confirmation hearings of Judge Amy Coney Barrett for the United States Supreme Court.

Senator John Cornyn is a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee and has been an active participant in the hearings for Amy Coney Barrett. Cornyn praised Judge Barrett for how she has conducted herself during the hearings. He told KFYO that Barrett is very smart and someone who is genuine and like a normal person you'd meet anywhere.

Cornyn told KFYO that the tone and actions from the Democrats on the committee have been like "night and day" compared to the hearings for Judge Brett Kavanaugh. Cornyn told KFYO that he believed the Democrats had learned a lesson from those hearings.

That, of course, doesn't mean Democrats haven't targeted Judge Amy Coney Barrett. In fact, according to Senator John Cornyn, one of Barrett's children became upset at some of the allegations thrown at Barrett during the hearings. Cornyn told KFYO that you have to have thick-skin in politics and in hearings, and that often times it's family members who get hurt.

Cornyn told KFYO that Barrett's nomination should be voted out of the Judiciary Committee on October 22nd and then the vote will move to the full Senate. As of now, Republicans do have the votes to confirm Barrett. The Texas senator also laid out some of the steps the Republicans could take if Democrats attempt to slow the process down.
