No, it's not time to break out the jackets and extra blankets, but a rare summer cold (or maybe cool) front is sweeping across Texas and that means cooler temperatures the rest of the week and even cooler temperatures this weekend.

So what does that mean for different areas of Texas? In Lubbock, Thursday's high will be in the low 90's before Friday's high of 95. But this weekend the forecast calls for rain chances to be on the increase and for high temperatures to be in the 80's.

The Dallas-Fort Worth area won't see as cool of temperatures, but a cool down is a cool down. DFW can expect rain chances this weekend with highs in the low 90's.

In the Austin area, temperatures are forecasted to remain hot this weekend, but early next week cooler temperatures and rain arrive. Even the Houston area will see cooler highs in the upper 80's early next week with rain chances on the increase.

Again, don't look for temperatures that are all that cool or cold, but a break from triple digit weather and rain in the middle of July? You can't beat that.

Long range forecasts do show temperatures bouncing back up into the upper 90's by the time we get to August in Lubbock. Enjoy the 80's while you can.
