Clovis Police are investigating reports of cyber bullying against a Clovis school student. The provocations occurred on Facebook, and electronic evidence has been preserved, to the extent that authorities may pursue a charge of Harassment under New Mexico State Criminal Law.

Authorities are working closely with the Clovis Municipal Schools Administration to identify the victims and perpetrators of the harassment. According to Clovis Police Chief Steve Sanders, “This type of cyber bullying and harassment will not be tolerated in our school system.”

Court orders are currently being sought from Facebook and Internet providers to produce web page administrator identities, Facebook page posters, IP addresses, and other Facebook account information. For more information go to www.police.cityofclovis.org.
