1. The Roof is in Trouble (link)

Different reports (link & link) from over the weekend are saying the Roof Bar on top on the Raider Park parking garage will be investigated by the TABC and sued because an adult got drunk, flipped his truck and killed three people. Obviously the accident was a tragedy. Three people lost their lives because one idiot made a bad decision. I understand the mother of one of the victims wants justice, but why sue the bar?

Authorities know that the three men went to four bars that night. The last bar they went to was the Roof. Based on a receipt only, TABC officials believe that the Roof over-served the men. Of course, no one has proof that these men were acting drunk and no one can say whether the men bought other people drinks. Also, why is it just the Roof that is in trouble? Remember, these guys went to three bars before they ended up at the Roof.

Really though this brings up a larger question. Should bars be responsible for your actions? In my opinion, the answer is no. Should a bar stop serving people who are acting wild and crazy? Sure. Should they serve people they know are drunk? No. Should they serve underage kids? Of course not. The fact is the men who were drinking that night were all adults and knew what they were doing. No one forced them to drink. The TABC should stop acting like bars are babysitters. I've heard all the arguments for what the TABC does. I've heard that bars have the moral responsibility to protect people. No they don't.

If that is true, than McDonald's can be sued for giving kids unhealthy meals. I mean, it's their moral responsibility to protect everyone right?

The TABC has fostered this idea that bars are somehow babysitters. That's why I don't blame the mother. She is looking for someone to blame and the TABC has pointed the finger.

The truth is, personal responsibility is dying in this country. We all want someone else to blame. Time we rethink things.

2. LISD Delayed (link)

I love the snow. Kids do too, here's why:

Due to the snow and potential for icy conditions on Monday morning, Lubbock ISD has announced that classes will be delayed by two hours for all campuses. Buses will also be delayed for two hours.

Snow has been falling in Lubbock since about 9am today and a Winter Weather Advisory continues through at least 6am Monday morning.

Careful driving around out there.

3.  Romney Wins CPAC (link)

Mitt Romney won the CPAC straw poll over the weekend and I must say that it surprised me. Rick Santorum is seen as THE conservative now in the race and he finished second. Romney captured 38% of the votes while Santorum took 31%. It really doesn't mean anything, but I'm sure the Romney camp will use it to their advantage.

4. Dumb story of the morning (link)

Samuel L. Jackson is an idiot.

Barack Obama's politics meant nothing to Samuel L. Jackson because the "Pulp Fiction" star only voted for the president for one reason and one reason only ... because he's black.

In an interview with Ebony magazine, Jackson explained, "I voted for Barack because he was black. 'Cuz that's why other folks vote for other people — because they look like them ... That's American politics, pure and simple. [Obama's] message didn't mean [bleep] to me."

Jackson then went on to drop the N-word several times when discussing Obama, telling the mag, "When it comes down to it, they wouldn't have elected a [bleep]. Because, what's a [bleep]? A [bleep] is scary. Obama ain't scary at all. [Bleeps] don't have beers at the White House. [Bleeps] don't let some white dude, while you in the middle of a speech, call [him] a liar. A [bleep] would have stopped the meeting right there and said, ‘Who the [bleep] said that?' I hope Obama gets scary in the next four years, 'cuz he ain't gotta worry about getting re-elected."

Again... idiot.
