Bob McNair, owner of the Houston Texans is someone who is charitable and cares about his players. He is also someone who knows business and is now under fire because he used a common idiom that ESPN thought was racist. Texan players took a knee in response to McNair saying "we can't have the inmates running the prison". Even if he would have said asylum instead of prison, ESPN would have jumped on the "inmates" comment. ESPN wants to take someone out after they have done damage to themselves. It appears the target is now McNair.
