Friday on The Chad Hasty Show, Lubbock County Republican Party Chairman Carl Tepper joined the show to talk about all the latest in politics, from the local, state and national arenas.

Tepper provided details on the upcoming Lubbock County Republican Party Convention, which will be held tomorrow (Saturday, March 19, 2016) at the Bayer Museum of Agriculture at 1121 Canyon Lake Drive.

Tepper explained what takes place at the conventions, and talked about the fiery debates that will likely take place. The public is encouraged to attend and get involved and there is no charge for admission, but donations are requested for the provided lunch.

During the interview, Tepper and Hasty discussed the fractures being seen in the Republican Party, with frustrations and rhetoric building around the GOP "Establishment" and candidates Donald Trump and Ted Cruz, and what might be in store in the party's  near future.

When Hasty asked Tepper to provide his opinion on what may happen to the Republican Party if Donald Trump gains almost enough votes to clinch the nomination for the party, but someone else is chosen by the GOP as the nominee, possibly causing a split in the party, Tepper didn't mince words.

"I don't think we're exaggerating this year. I absolutely believe the Republican Party could fracture to the point of: Will we be suing for the rights to the name 'Republican'? Will we be suing for the furniture? I believe it's that kind of a year, where if Donald Trump is at one delegate short, they will not let him on the convention floor," Tepper said, continuing: "The infrastructure and the management of the Republican Party is absolutely not going to let him in that hall, that's what I believe."

If that does happen, Tepper believes things could get out of control, fast.

"I absolutely do believe you will have fights in the hall. I believe you'll have riots outside with the Democrats and agitators and some of our own people," Tepper said. "And I think we're looking at the 1960s, early 70s again, and tear gas and horses and the whole bit. I don't think I'm exaggerating at all this year."
