It's not easy for American college students to receive scholarships. But in California, students may have even more competition...from illegal immigrants.

On Monday, Governor Jerry Brown of California approved the California "Dream Act," which would allow illegal immigrants to receive privately funded scholarships to attend public colleges and universities in California. The act passed through California's state legislature earlier this month, and is intended to help illegal immigrants who have earned a diploma after three years in high school.

My question is, why should American students have to compete against these guys for the few scholarship dollars we have? I mean, even if they get a college degree in this country, that doesn't automatically make them U.S. citizens. They still can't legally get a job here. They are illegal immigrants, why are we giving them more and more rights of our legal citizens?

I sure hope this doesn't catch on here in Texas. I've got enough scholarship competition from the American students as it is.
