Braddock On COVID-19 And The Upcoming Legislative Session
Monday on The Chad Hasty Show, Scott Braddock, Editor of QuorumReport.com, joined KFYO to discuss the coronavirus pandemic and the latest political news in the state.
Braddock discussed the rising numbers of coronavirus cases in Texas and how the Governor may respond in the future. Braddock reported that Governor Abbott still believes his orders from October covers what he wants to do right now.
Braddock speculated that Abbott may wait until the Texas Legislature comes back in January so that it is seen as if the Governor is having the legislature weigh in. Braddock said that politically, if Abbott is wanting further restrictions, it would look better if the legislature is perceived as being involved. Braddock also spoke about a bill filed by Representative Drew Springer that would reform the Governor's emergency powers.
In regards to the upcoming session, Braddock told KFYO that there has been discussion on how a session could work during a pandemic. That could mean we could see a shorter session or one that is played out in different locations.
