Gary Boren is making crime a central part of his campaign for Lubbock County Judge and on Thursday, Boren received an endorsement that fits perfectly with his message.

The Lubbock Professional Police Association endorsed Gary Boren and his campaign for Lubbock County Judge. The Lubbock Professional Police Association cited Boren's "broad experience with governmental process including, but not limited to policy, budgets, and safety".

Boren has previously served as President of the Lubbock Independent School District Board of Trustees and served two terms on the Lubbock City Council representing District 3 as well as having led "Truth-in-Taxation" appraisal reform under three governors in Texas.

The Lubbock Professional Police Association's President, Matt Boggs pointed to Boren's work on the Lubbock City Council in a press release.

Gary Boren supported law enforcement and public safety during his prior service as a Lubbock City Councilman and he has continued to do so since leaving office. He was instrumental in the implementation of policies as a councilman that prepared for the future safety of Lubbock. We cannot afford for the crime rate to rise any more. We are confident with his leadership he will continue to be innovative with his future policies in our fight to reduce crime in Lubbock and Lubbock County.”

In a previous interview on KFYO, Boren said that leadership in Lubbock County has failed the citizens when it comes to rising crime in the county and in the city. Boren told listeners that he would make to sure that the Lubbock County Sheriffs Department gets the resources they need to win.

Boren is challenging incumbent Lubbock County Judge Curtis Parrish in the Republican Primary.
