A gunman was killed in Texas on Monday after opening fire on Border Patrol agents as they arrived at a Border Patrol facility in McAllen. The attack on Border Patrol agents comes after weeks of backlash to President Trump's deportation policies.

According to FOX News, the FBI is leading the investigation into what happened on Monday.

What and Where Was Attacked in Texas?

The Border Patrol Annex Facility located in the city of McAllen which is located in the Rio Grande Valley is where the shooting took place early Monday morning. FOX News reports that the gun man opened fire when agents arrived.

Was Anyone Hurt in the Shootout?

A police officer with the McAllen Police was wounded in the shootout. According to FOX News, the officer is in stable condition. No federal agents were hit in the shooting.

The shooter was armed with a rifle and was wearing tactical gear. He was shot and killed by authorities. According to FOX News, law enforcement officials believe the attack was "a purposeful ambush targeting Border Patrol officials".

This Attack Came Days After Another

FOX News reports that the shooting on Tuesday came just days after a Texas Police Officer was shot on Friday near a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Detention Facility.
