On Friday's edition of The Chad Hasty Show during a discussion on the possibility of Lubbock Independent School District allowing armed teachers in LISD schools, the new emergency security and notification system for the district was brought up.

Doug Barber from Balco Systems Inc., the local company installing the system, kindly joined the show to share details about the system, it's features and intended use.

During his description, Barber said,

This is an emergency communications system that is specifically designed to help with school emergencies...If there is an incident that happens anywhere in the district, from the click of a button a lock-down, lock-out, whatever that emergency may be, can be initiated within milliseconds rather than waiting for phone calls to happen...This links every school in the district into a single system that can be locked down by a region, by a school...Each individual school also has control to initiate those emergencies as well.
