Construction continues along the Marsha Sharp Freeway.

Avenue A will be closed to traffic at 4th Street Wednesday, and traffic in the area will be switched onto the new northbound I-27 exit ramp to 4th Street.

The traffic signals at the Avenue A and 4th Street intersection will be permanently removed. Motorists can expect possible I-27 frontage road traffic signal timing issues and delays through the work area as the Avenue A signals are being removed.

Avenue A traffic needing to access 4th Street will be directed to use Broadway and northbound Martin Luther King Boulevard. Westbound traffic will be detoured to Main Street, then to the northbound I-27 frontage road.

The closure is expected to remain in place for the next 6 to 8 weeks.

Once reopened, Avenue A traffic will only be able to travel east on the freeway frontage road. Traffic wanting to access westbound Marsha Sharp Freeway/4th Street will need to use Main Street and the Northbound I-27 frontage roads.
