Another big named chain restaurant specializing in seafood has closed in Lubbock. Joe's Crabshack, which has been around for many years in Lubbock, is officially closed. We drove by the location at 5802 W. Loop 289 on Monday and the sign was already gone and there were sheets of paper on the doors announcing the closure.

It appears as though the closure of Joes Crab Shack was pretty sudden as many on Facebook were surprised by the news on Monday. Joes Crab Shack shutting down in Lubbock means one less option when it comes to seafood. It was just a few years ago that Rockfish closed in Lubbock and we have all heard about the issues with Red Lobster nationally, though locally, Red Lobster is still open.

The good news is Lubbock has plenty of really good options when it comes to seafood. Restaurants like Catch, Hook and Reel, Hot and Juicy Cajun Seafood, and Gator's Bayou are just a handful of great options that citizens love in Lubbock.

It's been a tough slide for Joe's Crab Shack as numerous locations have closed since they announced bankruptcy in 2017. They have since changed ownership but have still been closing locations around the U.S. Joe's Crab Shack first opened its doors in 1991 in Houston, Texas.
