American Diabetes Association’s Martha Atwood Discusses Symptoms And Seriousness of Diabetes [AUDIO]
On Monday's edition of Lubbock's First News Martha Atwood, regional director of the American Diabetes Association, talked with Tom Collins and guest host Sondra Ziegler about the symptoms and prevention of diabetes.
November is American Diabetes Awareness Month. Atwood said that in Lubbock County alone, there are nearly 30,000 people who have been diagnosed with diabetes. She added that Hispanics, African Americans and people with a family history of diabetes are the most at-risk for developing the disease. Atwood said that diabetes is not necessarily a visible disease, but it is still a very serious, and sometimes fatal one.
