Tuesday on KFYO Mornings with Dave King and Matt Martin the President and CEO of the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce Eddie McBride joined Dave and Matt to talk about Tech baseball, active shooter training, the Texas Tech Coliseum Auditorium, the Young Professionals Summer Bash, and the upcoming BBQ event later this year.

Eddie started the discussion by talking about the Chamber's planned Active Shooter Training Seminars. He explained that in the last 15 years over 50% of active shooter incidents indoors have been in businesses. Chris Paine of the Lubbock Police Department will host the training and will teach people how to defend themselves. Eddie said,

"Our effort is in safety. Trying to make folks feel more confident at the workplace. If anything that you hope never happens, you pray to God it never happens, but if something happens, at least they'd have the confidence to know how to react."

The event will take place Friday, June 15th at the MCM Eleganté from 8 - 11 a.m.

Other events coming up for the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce include the Young Professional Summer Bash on June 14th from 5:30 - 7 P.M. at The Garden. "It's a good opportunity for building relationships and networking, the stuff that I think that the chamber does a really good job at promoting," Eddie explained. And yet another event is the Chamber's BBQ event coming a bit later than usual in October.
