How smart is your home? Can you power on devices from your phone or are you still using light switches that have been around for years? One new community coming to the Lubbock area will soon be able to say their homes are the smartest around.

Developers out of Florida are currently developing a smart home community in Ransom Canyon that will be called Ransom Ranch. It aims to be the very first "all-inclusive turnkey smart home community" in West Texas. The development will include 60 homes with high tech features like smart locks, smart thermostats and more all controlled by your phone.

So hopefully, you won't lose your phone. But if you do, don't worry there are backup plans in place just incase.

According to KAMC, the homes will include maintenance, landscape, property management all in the price. And the homes are semi-customizable.

The homes will be semi-customizable, boasting quality finishes in all the two and three bedroom builds.

“They have very high ceilings, vinyl flooring or tile. We’re going to have granite countertops or quartz countertops. They’re going to look absolutely amazing. But most important is really the affordability price, we’re not going to cut any corners on the quality of the products being placed on the homes,” said Nolasco.

The builders believe that the homes will attract young professionals and empty nesters to Ransom Ranch. Ransom Ranch hopes to be under construction in late May.

No word yet on the prices of the homes but according to KAMC, the developers want the homes to remain affordable.
