9th Annual Catfish Fry Benefitting South Plains Food Bank Canceled Due to COVID-19
On Tuesday, July 7th, Prosperity Bank issued a release announcing the cancellation of the 9th Annual Fish Fry, which was scheduled to take place on August 6th, 2020.
The annual event, benefitting the South Plains Food Bank, has been canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the news release, a donation of $13,500 on behalf of Prosperity Bank, along with several others committed to maintaining support for the South Plains Food Bank's mission.
"We talked with the sponsors who had already contributed to the 2020 Catfish Fry, and together we decided to donate the collected money to the food bank," said Harry Zimmerman, Lubbock Regional President, in the release. "This pandemic has been a reminder of how important the food bank is to our community."
Zimmerman went on to say: "We look forward to picking this event back up in 2021."
Donations from community members have made the Catfish Fry possible every year. Support for the South Plains Food Bank during the coronavirus pandemic is even more important to families in need.
