17th Annual Wienerschnitzel Wiener Nationals Amarillo Regional to be Held Saturday

A fast-food chain will sponsor some weekend entertainment in the Panhandle this weekend.

The 17^th Annual Wienerschnitzel Wiener Nationals Amarillo Regionals will be held on Saturday, July 7^th.

The final race of the day will take place at 7:05 p.m. during the halftime of the Amarillo Sox vs. Wichita Wingnuts Baseball game, at the Amarillo Sox Stadium, located at 801 South Polk Street in Amarillo.

The winning wiener dog and its family will take home $250 and a trip to the Holiday Bowl in San Diego, California for the 2012 Wiener National Finals.

Last year’s winner was Eli, who belongs to Amarillo resident Anna Trevino, and both are pictured above.

Lubbock's Wiener Nationals Regional was held in February, with 20-pound Sir Richard Ruddiger claiming the win as the most dashing dachshund.
