These efforts are a part of the 2025 Gift Responsibly Campaign where the Texas Lottery joins over 200 organizations to protect the youth.

According to the Texas Lottery news release, it's suggested that gambling exposure when kids are young (such as buying scratch-off tickets and giving them to children) are correlated to increased risks of gambling problems later in life.

It's called "problem gambling" and is the main reason why the Texas Lottery is reminding the public that these activities should be limited to adults only.

The Texas Lottery is also pledging to limit the amount of targeted ads and other promotional material aimed at children.

This also means that the next time you purchase a lottery ticket, you will immediately see a sign or message stating that children should not be involved in the Texas lottery process, even if you are at home.

What is the 2025 Gift Responsibly Campaign?

The Gift Responsibly Campaign has actually been around since the early 2000s by researchers at McGill University in Quebec, Canada. It soon spread to the U.S. and now partners with hundreds of lotteries and organizations to raise awareness of youth gambling.
