On Wednesday's edition of Lubbock's First News, world-champion bull rider Josh Barentine talked with Tom Collins and Laura Mac about his life as a bull rider.

Barentine has been riding bulls for nearly 12 years, but has been a professional bull rider for only 5 years.  However, he is quickly becoming a rising star in bull riding under his mentor Don Gay, an 8-time bull riding champion. And now, Barentine has become the new bull riding world champion, having clenched the title in Cheyenne last year with three 90+-second rides.

"I was in Cheyenne at the daddy of them all: Frontier Days. That's the best arena to win the World Championship in...Everybody knows Cheyenne and all the history out there, and for me, going in, winning the World Championship at Frontier in Cheyenne, it was awesome."

Josh Barentine will be competing at the Championship Bull Riding West Texas Showdown this Saturday, February 2nd. Tickets are $15, and bull riding kicks off at 8 PM.
