Women Arrested While Lubbock Police Search for Male Suspect
The Lubbock County Sheriff's Office is asking the public for their help in searching for a person suspected of shooting at a deputy. On Monday, December 4, a deputy with the Lubbock County Sheriff's Office was conducting a routine traffic stop south of US Highway 84 on County Road 3100. During the stop is when the driver got out of the vehicle and was told to get back in the car multiple times before running into a cotton field.
KAMC news reports that this caused the deputy to chase the driver on foot who fired multiple shots at the pursuing officer. That deputy did return fire at the suspect during the chase while two women left the scene while the chase was occurring. The deputy eventually called for backup units and was able to get the help of the Lubbock Police Department Drone Unit and Texas Department of Public Safety Aircraft.
The driver did evade capture but is described as a Hispanic male with short dark hair. With the help of those additional units officers were able to capture the two women, 24-year-old Janice Murray and Carolyn Sinklier, near Farm-to-Market Road 1730 and Farm-to-Market Road 41. Both women who fled the scene while the chase ensued were charged with Evading Arrest. The Lubbock County Sheriff's Office urges anyone with information about the whereabouts of the male driver to contact them at 806-775-1480.
