Women have been serving in the military for a number of years now, but have long been barred from serving on the front lines with their male companions. However, that may soon be changing.

Today, the Pentagon will recommend to Congress that women should be allowed to serve in more military jobs closer to the front lines. The new rules state that women will formally be allowed to join a battalion and serve in jobs such as medics, police, and communications officers. It is expected, however, that women will still be prohibited from serving in infantry, armed forces, or special operations positions.

I have much respect for women who serve in the military, and I'm glad to see that there will be more opportunities available to them to serve on the front lines if they so desire. These women have made the choice to serve their country, and I think they should be allowed to serve in the same capacity as the men.
