With Toys ‘R’ Us Leaving Lubbock, Could KB Toys Be Making a Comeback?
With the death of Toys 'R' Us coming, who could fill their place?
KB Toys!
The company went out of business in 2009, closing over 450 stores in the process, never to return. Until now.
Strategic Marks is a company whose purpose to resurrect dead brands and bring them back to life. And that is what they're planning to do with KB Toys.
According to CNNMoney, as of now, the company is planning to open 1,000 pop-up stores in various locations for Black Friday and the holiday shopping season, with the intention of keeping high-performing stores open year round. Strategic Marks purchased the KB Toys brand in 2016.
I contacted the South Plains Mall to see if they knew of plans to have one of these pop-up stores in Lubbock. As of the publication of this story, they hadn't returned my call. Nether did Strategic Marks.
But my guess is with 1,000 of these stores, Lubbock is sure to get one, and when we do, we will let you know!
