Another night of single digit temperatures is making possible extremely cold wind chill values for KFYO News' Lubbock listening area.

Lubbock's low temp for Friday morning (February 4th) is forecast to be down to 7 degrees, with a wind chill value down to -15 degrees. The -15 degree wind chill will also be possible for Amarillo and the Texas Panhandle and parts of the Big Country. South of Lubbock in the Permian Basin, the wind chill is forecast to be as low as -5 degrees.

* WHAT...Very cold wind chills expected. Wind chills as low as 15
  below zero.

* WHERE...The South Plains, Rolling Plains, and the far southern
  Texas Panhandle.

* WHEN...Until 9 AM CST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Exposed skin may become quickly frostbitten or frozen.
  The cold wind chills could result in hypothermia if precautions
  are not taken.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Persons are urged to stay indoors until conditions improve. If you
must go outside, dress in layers. Several layers of clothes will
keep you warmer than a single heavy coat. Cover exposed skin to
reduce your risk of frostbite or hypothermia. Gloves, a scarf, and a
hat will keep you from losing your body heat.
