A wildfire spurred on by high winds raged for much of Monday afternoon.

The fire broke out around 1 p.m. near Whiteface, west of Levelland in Hockley County.

It took 4 fire departments around 3 hours to extinguish the blaze, which burned ranchland, but no structures.

It is estimated that around 681 acres were affected by the fire. The flames burned an almost 2-mile long patch north of State Highway 114 in the area.
