Wild Bobcat Sightings on the Rise in Dallas Neighborhoods
Well look what the cat dragged in... literally! These bobcat sightings are popping up more and more in this area of Dallas.
First off, do you know why they are called "bobcats"? It's because of their short, or "bobbed" tails... I didn't know that! I just thought maybe some dude named Robert saw one and thought this was his chance to be famous.
Cat Got Their Tongue in Dallas
One family in particular, the Schuncks, got a little closer for comfort than they would have probably appreciated when not one, not two, but three bobcats were spotted in their yard.
The family matriarch, Justin Schunck, said that it all started with a slew of text messages from their neighbors indicating that her home is clearly the local hangout spot for wild bobcats.
Animal Control Says to Suck It Up
When the Shuncks reported the sightings to Dallas Animal Control, they essentially told them 'tough nuggets', and that they won't have anything to do with relocating the wild cats.
In a statement to NBC 5, Dallas Animal Control said that have recieved an abundance of sightings from residents all over the city, but that that's normal during this time of year since the bobcat kittens are older and more active.
Animal control went on to say that the city does not "trap, remove, or relocate healthy outdoor wildlife for a multitude of reasons, but encourages healthy coexistence."
So, there you have it. The next time that you see the 'coexist' bumper sticker on that car that's going 5 miles-an-hour down the highway, just remember that it's not just about humans.
