According to CNN, that brand new iPhone 7 that you bought may not be as fast as your friend's iPhone 7. A report from Cellular Insights found that some iPhones use a Qualcomm modem while other iPhones use an Intel modem. What does that mean for you?

According to the report, those phones with the Qualcomm modem performed 30% better than Intel's. Both the iPhone 7 and the 7 Plus have these modems but only the 7 Plus was tested.

So how can you tell which phone you have? If you have AT&T, T-Mobile, or Telstra, sorry but you most likely have the slower Intel modem. If you have Sprint, Verizon, or a SIM-free model, you should be rocking the Qualcomm modem.

What does 30% slower mean in real life and real use? Probably not much for the average user, but when people buy a new phone they are hoping for the best and fastest that money can buy. According to CNN, not every Apple user can say that now.
