When is the Right and Legal Time to Mow Your Lawn in Texas?
Texas weather is heating up and recently many of us across the state have had beneficial rains. As the temperatures go up that means our lawns will start getting greener and the grass will be getting longer.
Most of us want our lawns to look great and that means getting the lawn mower out and taking care of the lawn. But with summer around the corner and temperatures on the increase, many of us don't want to mow when it's hot outside.
So when do you mow in Texas and is there a time where it's illegal to mow because it's too early?
How Early Can You Legally Mow In Texas?
There is no state law in Texas stating when it's too early or too late to mow. However, there are cities with noise ordinances and you should be a good neighbor. The general rule is, no mowing before 7:00 a.m. if you are concerned about the noise. But there are other factors to consider, like the health of your lawn.
When is the Worst and Best Time of Day To Mow Your Lawn in Texas?
While you might be able to legally mow before 8:00 a.m., that doesn't mean that you should. According to LoveLawn.com, if you mow too early, like before 8:00 a.m. there might be dew on your grass. This could lead to uneven cuts, lawn diseases, and possible damage to your mower. You also don't want to mow in the middle of the day, say 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. That is during the heat of the day and it could stress your grass and of course be unhealthy for you. You also want to stay away from 6:00 p.m. or later mows due to the possibility of you lawn not recovering in time and being more susceptible to disease.
The best time to mow? Between 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. It's still cool outside and you can get work done. 4:00 to 6:00 is considered a good time because temperatures are normally coming down, but we know in Texas it can still be hot at 8:00 p.m. So in my opinion? Stick with after 8:00am and before Noon.
