It's a good question, and one that I honestly cannot answer. But since I have your attention…

I know we’ve had some disappointments lately with big name artists scheduling concerts in Lubbock and then cancelling at the last minute. I’ve been disappointed, too.

But I’d like to take this moment to remind the fine citizens of Lubbock about the absolutely, incredible LOCAL music scene we are endowed with in the Hub City.

Multiple times each week, I see posts from local artists about gigs they are playing, and the majority of them are no charge. NO CHARGE.

If you think about it, every artist starts out this way; even your current favorite arena sell-outs did. They all started small, with a small group of fans, playing for free.

So, the next time a big name artist schedules and then cancels in Lubbock (because it’ll probably happen again), remember to support our local musicians. They are out there in full force, every week, playing their hearts out.

A great way to stay up to date with local and live music in Lubbock is by liking Lubbock Music "Live" on Facebook.

The music, shows, and talent is here, y'all, right in our own backyard.
