The Texas Groundwater Association will hold its annual meeting in Lubbock this week.

The water volume numbers for this most recent year are not yet available but in 2012 the underground water table in the South Plains dropped almost two feet on average.

Lake levels have also been depleted by the state's ongoing drought with Lake Alan Henry 73.7% full in late January of 2013.  Currently it is 64.9%.

At this week’s conference, licensed water well drillers and pump installers will have the chance to earn continuing education credits at the convention.

The convention, which begins Wednesday, will be held at the Overton Hotel and the Civic Center.
