The Texas Department of State Health Services warned citizens of the presence of this virus and how they can better mitigate it's spread:

  • Wear long sleeves and pants to remove direct access to your delicious skin
  • Lather up with insect repellant, preferably one that contains DEET (diethyltoluamide... see? DEET is a lot easier to say)
  • Remove sources of standing water around your property. Toys, tires, buckets and gutters can provide the perfect watery crib for adorable mosquito babies

In 2023, Texas alone had reported 163 cases. So, get those zappers out!
