The Texas Department of Transportation will close all West Loop 289 mainlanes at midnight, Nov. 9 to allow Lubbock Power & Light to remove powerlines.

Drivers on both the northbound and southbound sides will be detoured off the loop onto the frontage roads at the 34th Street exits during the process. The frontage roads will also be sporadically closed to allow crews to safely remove the powerlines.

According to LP&L, the work should be finished by 5 a.m. Monday morning.

Due to the detours, TxDOT is urging drivers to consider alternate routes to avoid delays.
