Lubbock police have two suspects that could be responsible for the double homicide near Idalou last week. In a news conference Friday officials announced that 37 year old Casey Ledbetter and 28 year old Meredith Ledbetter are considered prime suspects in the murders of Derek Hale and his mother Joanie Parker.

Parker’s body was found on a property outside of Idalou May 24th. She had been shot three times. Her son, who originally was wanted for questioning, was found later that week bludgeoned and stabbed to death near the area where his mother was found.

Casey and Meredith are currently jailed on unrelated charges. Casey is accused of being a felon in possession of a firearm, the same type that was used to shoot Parker. The weapon is currently missing. Authorities say the Ledbetters, Hale, and Parker seemingly had known each other for years.
